I am aiming to complete IRONMAN UK on the 1st August. Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a full marathon 26.2 miles within the 17 hour cut off, to raise money for the Addenbrooke's Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Trust (TCT) Unit Appeal.

Description

I have recently found out about this appeal through a neighbour whose 21 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer in November last year. He explained to us the importance of this unit and how much it would help the young people who will be using it. To see him devote so much time to raise public awareness and fund raise for the unit whilst dealing with his families own personal battle is an inspiration. I was originally doing the Ironman as a personal challenge but after learning about this appeal and the challenges cancer patients face on a daily basis my reasons appeared a little selfish. Please dig deep and donate what you can to this worthwhile cause.

No parent should have to see their children suffer. As a father of two young children, both born at Addenbrookes, I have witnessed the hospital's fantastic work first-hand but, thankfully, not had to witness my children endure any more than is normal for kids to. Both Addenbrookes and anyone dealing with cancer in young people deserve a unit such as this. Good on you, Lee!
