A huge thank you to retired businessman Alan Biggar. Alan got involved with us in memory of Uphall teenager Zoe King, who lost her three-year battle with soft tissue sarcoma just days before her 18th birthday in September 2007, Alan worked with Sharon King, Zoe’s mum at Brewin Dolphin. He is our Scottish patron & has just completed a rather gruelling drive around all 6 Nations rugby grounds in his vintage Morgan & in the process has raised just short of £45k for us. A warm welcome back to Alan from Siobhan Dunn - our Director of Fundraising and Sharon King - Zoe's Mum.

Graeme High School, Falkirk
Well done to everyone at Graeme High School, thanks for your continued support & good luck for the charities day at the end of the month!!
Graeme High School have been fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust recently. Sharon Sheridan, Regional Fundraiser took Miss McEwan from Graeme High School, who originally set up the charities committee 7 years ago for the school, and two of the S2 pupils, Alice & Stephanie to visit our unit at Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow. The visit was very timely as one of their fellow pupils is currently being treated on the unit. Whilst there, the girls were lucky enough to meet Ferran, one of the young people being treated on the unit at the time of the visit.

Messages of support ...
“Teenage Cancer Trust units combine an expert team and the best possible therapy with the best possible environment for teenagers and young adults. By focusing on quality of life, they can change a teenager’s outlook and give them the fight and attitude they need to beat cancer.”
Professor Tim Eden
"This is a truly remarkable charity whose work in partnership with the
NHS enables the quality of health to be significantly improved for young teenagers who have been diagnosed with cancer.”
Edith Bowman Regional ambassador
Edith Bowman is the official ambassador for the East of Scotland. Edith was born in Fife, studied at Edinburgh University and still has close family in the area.
“I’ve been involved with Teenage Cancer Trust for a number of years now and I helped launch the East of Scotland appeal in Edinburgh, so I’m really pleased to be the official East of Scotland appeal patron. The appeal is doing well but we still have a long way to go. Teenage Cancer Trust needs to raise £1.6 million to build two units in Edinburgh where young people with cancer can be treated in a home from home environment alongside others their own age. It’s such an important factor that allows them be themselves, creating a positive attitude to fight cancer. Every teenager in the area who needs access to one of these units should have that right. We have a long way to go to raise the money needed but together we can make this a reality.”
