Young person with cancer in a Teenage Cancer Trust ward

Young people like Lakita urgently need your help

Today, and every day, seven young people in the UK will hear the words “you have cancer”.

You can help our nurses and youth workers be there for them with specialist care and support when they need us most.

My name’s Lakita, and I’ve been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma twice.

Before I met my Teenage Cancer Trust Nurse Hanna, I was terrified. But she just broke things down for me and helped me see that lots of other people were in this boat too.

My youth support team took the time to listen and remember things about me. They let me be me, not just a cancer patient. They even set me up with counselling when I struggled with my mental health.

And thanks to Teenage Cancer Trust, I’ve also made some amazing friendships with other young people with cancer – we just get each other.

Without Teenage Cancer Trust, everything I’ve faced would have felt ten times harder.
