Working with teachers

We assist teachers and prospective teachers by helping them learn more about teenage cancer.

We believe that an understanding of this critical subject is a vital addition to a teacher’s knowledge bank. So we welcome the opportunity to talk to those in teacher training about the many complex problems that this creates for young people – the kind of issues that graduates might well meet first-hand when they begin their teaching career.

“Promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising health awareness are two of the most important challenges for PE teachers. As a trainee teacher I am keen to fulfil my own potential to educate young people on all aspects of health and well being. Prior to attending a workshop run by Teenage Cancer Trust, I felt anxious about the prospect of discussing cancer or even raising the issue and would have reacted in the same way as many others…sweep it under the carpet. Given the facts about its prevalence, I am glad to have had some specialist input and now feel confident to find out more and make my own little assault on raising awareness.” Trainee Teacher, Chelsea School, University of Brighton
