Bone Cancer Awareness Week
23/06/09
Simon Davies, Teenage Cancer Trust:
“Bone cancer remains one of the most common types of cancer in young people, exacerbated by growth spurts.
Significant advances in treatment were made up until the mid 1980’s but despite clinical trials, the situation hasn’t dramatically improved when it comes to survival rates today. The reason for this largely lies with delays in diagnosis and a lack of available new drugs.
At Teenage Cancer Trust we are working with the medical profession to make sure signs and symptoms are recognised early on and that young people are encouraged to ask lots of questions to make sure they get the right diagnosis.”
