Britain’s Got Talent judge, Amanda Holden, will be visiting Hunstanton Lawn’s annual tennis tournament on Monday.

The TV star, who lives locally, will be making an appearance at the UK’s largest teenage tennis tournament to support the championship’s chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Lasting five days (Monday 17th – Friday 22nd August), the tournament will raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust’s £1million appeal to build a state of the art specialist teenage cancer unit for young people from across East Anglia who have cancer.

Teenage Cancer Trust’s planned unit at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, will cost around £2million to complete, with half of this money needing to be raised locally in East Anglia.

Design of the unit is underway, incorporating lots of innovative ideas about space and décor provided by teenage cancer patients themselves. Building work is scheduled at the end of 2009 and due to be completed by the end of 2010.

The specialist unit will cater for cancer patients from East Anglia and surrounding areas aged between the ages of 13 and 24. It provide 10 in-patient beds plus out-patient and day care facilities; open-plan social and recreation areas; a kitchen and dining area for patients and parents; digital lighting systems; broadband connectivity and cutting edge computing, gaming and entertainment equipment. In the meantime, a temporary facility, The Oasis, has been developed.
