Marylebone Village Summer Fayre, raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust
09/06/09
The Marylebone Summer Fayre, organised and funded by The Howard de Walden Estate and supporting Teenage Cancer Trust takes place on Sunday 14 June. Now in it’s sixth year, the Fayre will see the streets around Marylebone Village closed to traffic and filled with market stalls, top quality dance and entertainment and some of the best food and drink in London.
The Blue Zone, situated in Paddington Gardens and Paddington Street, will host al fresco eating, a mind, body and soul relaxation area and a festival of live music from The Bedford Bandstand, hosted by BBC Radio presenter Tony Moore. A line up of talented musicians will take to the stage, including former teenage cancer patients Alice Watts, Prince Aidoo and Anthony Whitehead.
Local estate agents Druce and Kay &Co, local public house Gunmakers and supermarket Waitrose have teamed together to create a distinctive festival atmosphere in the Blue Zone. Alongside the spectacular entertainment festival themed food and drink will be available. Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, every penny spent at the Festival and Pimm’s Bar will go directly to Teenage Cancer Trust. Throughout the Fayre retailers and participants will be joining in to raise money for the charity.
Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer by providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. As well as state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation.
Simon Davies, Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust said: ‘We are very grateful to the Marylebone Fayre, and all of the companies involved, for choosing to support Teenage Cancer Trust. The Fayre looks set to be a fantastic day out in London, and every penny raised will help us to ensure that young people with cancer across UK get the best possible care and support.’
In addition to the funds raised in the dedicated Blue Zone, the Fayre will be running a Text to Donate Competition to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, including a luxury hotel break, a hair styling and photography shoot and two tickets to Blur’s sold-out gig at London’s Goldsmiths College on 22nd June 2009. Text entry costs £1.50 (plus standard network message charge) and the competition runs from 1st to 14th June 2009. For more information, visit www.marylebonesummerfayre.com
