100 runners, double last year's number, took to the streets of Manchester to run the 10K challenge, raising around £20,000 to help transform the lives of young people with cancer all over the UK. Among the #TeamTeenageCancer runners was former Coronation Street and Loose Women star Denise Welch, who is an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Denise, who took on the run alongside her husband Lincoln Townley, for the third year in a row, said:
I'm thrilled to have taken part once again in such a great challenge to support a charity very close to my heart. I've visited several Teenage Cancer Trust units and seen what an incredible difference they make to the lives of remarkable young people for whom illness is secondary to being a teenager.
The day was particularly significant for Denise, who tweeted:

Denise has supported us in the past by launching the North West Appeal to raise £250,000 in 2013, to fund a pioneering new nursing and support outreach service for young people with cancer in the North West.
Vanessa Simmons, Teenage Cancer Trust Fundraising Manager for the North West, said: "We've been so impressed with the incredible enthusiasm of all our runners, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Great Manchester Run. This money will go towards desperately needed services for local young people with cancer."
