London

Although Jane said she was "not a runner" and that the most she's ever run up until starting marathon training was 3 miles, she became determined to rise to the challenge after cheering on other runners at last year's marathon with her son Stephen.

In a post to Stephen's Facebook page, Jane pointed out that running a marathon is "representative of the positive way Stephen chose to live his life."

She said:

Despite being diagnosed with cancer Stephen continued to run and was determined to run a marathon himself. However, as you all know this was not to be as the cancer became more aggressive ... So I’m participating in my first ever marathon to keep my promise and to continue the fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust that Stephen was so passionate about.

Jane joins a team of 107 other inspirational Teenage Cancer Trust runners who are taking on the London Marathon.
