Teenage Cancer Trust welcomes NHS England's service specifications for children's cancer services. The specifications are a set of mandated standards that all English hospitals that provide cancer care to children (aged 0-15) now have to adhere to, ensuring they offer high quality care consistently.

Dr Louise Soanes, Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse, was part of a Clinical Reference Group that helped shape the standards, and Teenage Cancer Trust also responded to public consultations on earlier drafts.

Kate Collins, Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust commented:

“We welcome the publication of these service specifications -it is an important and long-awaited milestone which will ensure that services for children with cancer across England are centred around offering the specialist, high quality care they need.  We look forward to seeing their implementation in all English children’s cancer services.

“Teenage Cancer Trust is committed to working with NHS England to ensure that the needs of teenagers and young people with cancer are met from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond. It is now imperative that the service specifications for teenagers and young people with cancer are published soon - so that young people with cancer do not lag behind.”
