On 5 June the Heavy Metal Truants once more set off on an epic bike ride from Alexandra Palace, London to Download Festival, Donington. This year they celebrated the 5th year of the ride raising funds for their three nominated charities, Teenage Cancer Trust, Childline and Nordoff Robbins.

The annual cycle ride saw some of metal's biggest industry professional cycle the 161 mile journey in 48 hours. This year's fundraising efforts were completed at The Big Red in Holloway which saw the Lounge Kittens perform, the Truants taking part in some Rockeoke and of course a Rock Raffle. The night raised just over £3,000 bringing this year's grand total to an amazing £131,500 of which £43,833 will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust.

The group are already planning their sixth ride and will no doubt go harder than ever before and will hope to increase their staggering total from the last five rides which now stands at £469,000 which has been split between Teenage Cancer Trust, Childline and Nordoff Robbins.

Heavy Metal Truants - we salute you!
