RISE's incredible line-up features some of the freshest emerging talent from the worlds of hip hop, rap, grime, R&B and soul curated by SBTV founder Jamal Edwards MBE, critically acclaimed producer and one half of Kolidescopes, Dan Dare, Hackney-based rapper and artist manager, Mikill Pane and Doug Hall, founder of D Digital PR, a specialist music PR agency. Sponsored by Boohoo, RISE will take place on Tuesday 29 March at O2 Academy Islington in London.

The event will be hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Sian Anderson and Julie Adenuga from Apple Music's Beats 1.

The Saturdays singer Vanessa White will be closing the night with what will be one of her first live solo shows since releasing new material including “Relationship Goals”, “Don’t Wanna Be Your Love” and most recently “Nostalgia”.

Vanessa’s silky smooth R&B sound will be complemented by a line up that features Jay Prince, a hip hop artist and music producer from East London whose music brings together complex poetic lyrics and flow with influences from the 90’s golden age of Hip Hop in the US with current UK scene.

Mikill Pane, who has worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Newton Faulkner, Paloma Faith, Yasmin P and Jakwob, will also be performing tracks from his debut album Blame Miss Barclay.

The freshest talent from the UK rap scene will descend on the stage in the shape of Eyez, Dream McLean and Mic Righteous, whose energy and seamless blend of rap and pop has already impressed the BBC, Q and Mixmag. Soul-folk singer Joel Baker will be joined by singer Zak Abel, whose debut track was produced by Kaytranada, and the new girl of pop Òlah Bliss. UK Beatbox Champion and singer-songwriter Grace Savage will also hit the stage alongside Alanna Verde who’s 90s R&B style has got attention from the likes of i-D, DJ Trevor Nelson and BBC Radio 1 Xtra and SNE

Following in the footsteps of our Royal Albert Hall shows, RISE will not only showcase emerging talent but also raise vital funds to help young people face cancer.

Jamal Edwards said:

After visiting one of Teenage Cancer Trust’s incredible units, I have seen first-hand the amazing work the charity does to support young people through cancer. I met many of the patients who are treated on these units – each and every one is an inspiration, holding their heads up high during the hardest of times.

"Teenage Cancer Trust helps them do that. Every day, 7 young people are diagnosed with cancer. It could be you or me. This charity is there for every single one of them, making sure they have the best care in the best possible place. I am honoured to help them by curating RISE. If you love new music then join us and help raise some serious money to help Teenage Cancer Trust do even more to help young people fight cancer.”

RISE will take place at O2 Academy Islington on Tuesday 29 March. Doors open from 7pm. Tickets are priced at £15 and are available from Ticketweb.

Tom Marshall, Head of Partnership Fundraising: “After 16 incredible years of world-class shows at our Royal Albert Hall gigs, it is safe to say that music is at the very heart of what Teenage Cancer Trust does. By teaming up with Jamal we wanted to create an event that appeals to young people because music is also close to the hearts of many of the young people who use our specialist units across the UK. It helps them through the hard times while also providing a sense of normality during their treatment. We hope that through RISE we can reach thousands of young people who love new and emerging talent and want to support what Teenage Cancer Trust does. It’s set to be a fantastic event where emerging artists will play in a legendary music venue to a big crowd of music fans – I’m looking forward to hearing their brand new sound.”

We're searching for the hottest unsigned, up and coming MC with Metro to perform at the gig on 29 March 2016. If you want to showcase your skills at an exciting new event, upload your 30 second video clip to Twitter tagging @teenagecancer and the hashtag #RiseMusic.

Judging the competition will be Teenage Cancer Trust, SBTV, Jamal Edwards, Mikill Pane and Dan Dare. This competition is now closed.
