My role

Beth McCann, a Teenage Cancer Trust Clinical Nurse Specialist at University College Hospital London

I’m a Clinical Nurse Specialist working on the Young People’s Cancer Service at University College Hospital London. As well as this I also spend 8 hours per week running Teenage Cancer Trust’s family support network. This means that I host family fun days, giving young people and their families a chance to meet others in similar positions.

My favourite parts though are when I get to do home or school visits and really get to know the families, building a trusting relationship, allowing me to support them even more. I feel so privileged to do this job and work with such inspirational young people.

Why Teenage Cancer Trust matters

Being treated in an age-appropriate environment means a great deal to the young people we work with and being able to meet others in the same situation makes them feel less alone in what they’re going through.
