Registration

How do I sign up to a challenge event with Teenage Cancer Trust?

To sign up for one of our challenge events, just go through to our Event listings and use the filter to find an event that suits you.

Once you find an event, just click the ‘Register now’ button and fill in your details.

If the challenge you want to do is not listed, then visit the event website and purchase a place directly from the organisers. Then let us know you what you’re doing by filling out our online Doing your own challenge form.

I’ve registered for a charity place online but haven’t heard anything – am I registered?

If you haven’t heard anything from our teams within 2 working days of registering, please email us at challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370.

What happens if I can no longer take part in the event?

Please let us know that you’re unable to take part by emailing challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or calling 020 7612 0370.

Unfortunately, we cannot issue a refund on your registration fee or defer your place to the following year. If you have your own place in the event through the race organisers, you’ll need to check their refund and deferral policy which you should be able to find on their website or on your registration confirmation.

If your donors would like a refund on the sponsorship they have given you, they will need to contact us directly with their payment reference. Alternatively, we can move the sponsorship you’ve raised to another event if you choose to take part in something else or register for the same event in the following year.

I’ve already registered for a charity place – why am I being asked to complete another registration form?

In order to confirm your charity place in a race, you'll need to confirm your details with the race organisers. As a participant in the event, you'll need to agree to their terms and conditions and let them know you’re running with a charity place.

If you don't complete this second stage of the registration process by the specified deadline, you won't able to take part on the day. This second part to the registration process is at no extra cost.

I don’t have a charity place in my event, can I still wear a Teenage Cancer Trust top?

Absolutely! We’d love all our Teenage Cancer Trust fundraisers to wear our top on the day. If you let us know you’re fundraising for us by setting up an online fundraising page, we may not know your top size - and without that we can't send you one!

You can let us know by emailing challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or calling 020 7612 0370.

I'd like to apply for an event with my friends. Is it possible to register as a team?

Yes! If you’re buying a charity place in an event, you’ll be asked to create or join a team as part of your registration.

You can also set up team fundraising pages on both Virgin Money Giving and JustGiving. We recommend you each set up an individual page which links to a team page so we can clearly identify any funds that have been raised on your behalf, but if you do choose to fundraise together on one page, please let us know by email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or calling 020 7612 0370.

If one or more of the team have a charity place, the minimum sponsorship the team must raise is the minimum sponsorship attached to the charity place multiplied by the number of charity places you have bought.

I already have my own place in an event. Can I still join the team?

Of course! Send us an email at challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370 to let us know what event you’re doing and we’ll get you registered.

Once you’ve registered, we’ll send you a free Teenage Cancer Trust top along with a handy welcome pack filled with helpful fundraising ideas.

How much does it cost to sign up for a challenge event?

For some of our events, we may ask you to pay an initial registration fee to cover the cost of our charity places.

These costs are different for each event, but you can find specific amounts on our individual event pages.

I've already signed up. When will I receive my welcome pack?

You should receive your welcome pack within 1 week of signing up.

If you’ve signed up and haven’t received your pack in that time, just email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370.

Fundraising

How can I collect sponsorship money for an event?

There are lots of easy ways to fundraise for an event! We recommend starting by setting up an online fundraising page with Virgin Money Giving or JustGiving – it’s quick and easy to do!

Social fundraising events like cake sales, pub quizzes and office sweepstakes are also great for helping you reach your target.

We’d be more than happy to talk through some ideas with you and you’ll get more information in your fundraising pack we email to you. But if you just can't wait, you can download our free fundraising guide.

How do I send my sponsorship money to you?

If you've set up an online fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving or JustGiving, we'll receive the money you raise automatically. Otherwise, visit our 'Paying Money In' page to see all the different ways that you can submit your sponsorship money.

Where can I get a sponsorship form?

Once you’ve registered your fundraising with us, you’ll get a paper sponsorship form in your fundraising pack within 1 week of registering. If you need more, or it doesn’t arrive, please email us at challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 370.

I don’t want to commit to a minimum fundraising amount. How can I avoid this?

If you buy your own place through the event organisers, we won’t ask you to commit to a minimum fundraising amount – we just ask you to raise what you can.

To buy your own place, visit the event website and then let us know you’ve done this by emailing challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or calling 020 7612 0370.

Why do I have to commit to a minimum fundraising amount when I sign up for a charity place?

Each charity place represents an important and valuable source of fundraising for us. As we have made an investment to be able to offer places at events, we therefore ask each charity place participant to pledge to raise a minimum level of sponsorship in return for their place in the event. Each event has a different target attached to the charity place and the level has been set to ensure that we can continue to make sure 81p of every pound raised goes towards helping young people with cancer.

We're here to support you with your fundraising, so if you have any questions or concerns before or once you’ve signed up, please email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370.

What happens if I don’t reach my minimum sponsorship target?

We know that committing to raise a specific amount can seem a bit daunting which is why we’re here to support you every step of the way with your fundraising. We have lots of experience and can give you some great ideas, lots of advice and helpful materials to help you smash your target.

If you're worried about reaching your fundraising target, please email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370.

When does my fundraising need to be in by?

We ask that you send your money to us within 30 days of the event or activity you are engaged in. All donations raised on an online fundraising page will be sent to us automatically.

Where does the money I fundraise go?

By raising money for us, you’ll help make sure young people don’t face cancer alone. We help young people and their families deal with the many ways that cancer can affect your body, your mind and your life. We do it by providing world-class cancer care and support in specialist units, local hospitals and in homes across the UK.

We’re there at every stage, from diagnosis through treatment and after treatment. Their stories show the amazing difference your fundraising could make.

Do you have any fundraising tips and materials?

For general guidance on how to kick off your fundraising plans, you can download our free fundraising guide.

If you know you’d like to fundraise but are stuck for ideas, you can visit our fundraising ideas section. You can also order materials like balloons, banners, brochures, or collection tins to help with your fundraising.

On the day

When will I receive my race pack which includes my running number?

The race pack containing your race number will be sent by the event organisers. Please visit the FAQs section on the event organiser’s website for more details.

We'll send you a separate welcome pack containing your exclusive Teenage Cancer Trust top, if you have given us your size. If you haven’t given us your top size (XS, S, M, L, XL), email us at challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call us on 020 7612 0370.

Will Teenage Cancer Trust be there on the day?

Unfortunately, we're only a small team and can't get to every event our supporters take part in. If we're attending the event, we'll let you know where we'll be on the day, in the run up to the event. Your friends and family are welcome to join us!

How do I order a Teenage Cancer Trust top?

You’ll be given the opportunity to let us know what size you would like when you register, but if you haven’t yet registered or you decided not to order one and have now changed your mind, simply email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org or call 020 7612 0370.

I’ve been sent my Teenage Cancer Trust top and it’s the wrong size – can I change it?

Absolutely! We want all our team to look great in our Teenage Cancer Trust technical tops so, if the size isn’t quite right, please email challenges@teenagecancertrust.org to request another size.

We’d really appreciate it if you could return the one which doesn’t fit in it’s original packaging to ‘FREEPOST Teenage Cancer Trust’ to help us keep costs down.

If I have other questions, who can I contact?
