The Sci-Fi Ball has announced that they raised a staggering £8,000 at their 24th annual event celebrating all things Science Fiction. The Ball was held over three days from 2 - 4 February at the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton.
The not-for-profit convention brought together fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy to ensure they had a truly out-of-this-world weekend. Ticket holders partied every night, attended special guest panels, saw props and sets - including a replica KITT car from Knight Rider - collected autographs and had their photograph taken with the stars. They were even chased by roaming Daleks!
Other attractions during the weekend included LegoScience Fiction creations, stalls, a Sci-Fi pub quiz, karaoke and a retro-games arcade, provided by Portsmouth’s Game Over Video Game Café. Special ticket holders enjoyed a sumptuous three-course black-tie dinner, including cabaret from the Sons of Kirk and an exclusive cocktail party with the stars.
Special guests who attended the Sci-Fi Ball included, Terry Farrell (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the US Red Dwarf), Ingrid Oliver (Doctor Who, Plebs, Peep Show), Gary Graham (Star Trek: Voyager, Alien Nation) and Robert Rankin (Author of The Antipope, The Lord of the Ring Roads and many other best-selling fiction).
We are incredibly grateful to the Sci-Fi Ball for supporting us over the years. They have raised an outstanding £49,000 for young cancer patients to date and our partnership is still going strong.
