Throughout December staff asked customers if they would like to make a donation whilst paying their bill and customers donated generously. Regional fundraiser Sonia Graham said: "We really appreciate this support from the Alchemist, the staff were all really motivated to help young people with cancer. All the money raised will help fund services like our units at the Great North Children's Hospital and Freeman Hospital in Newcastle."
In addition to fundraising, the Alchemist also invited young people who have been supported by Teenage Cancer Trust into the bar and restaurant for one of their monthly social nights where they took part in mocktail making and had food too. Sonia added: "I went along to the social night with our young people and they had an amazing time mocktail making and then having a meal together. Social events like these are so important to help young people to get to know each other and gain peer to peer support away from the clinical environment."
