Staff from branches Kia Stockton and Harley-Davidson in Gateshead and Leeds enthusiastically threw themselves into fundraising with a series of events and challenges throughout the year, such as:

  • dress down days
  • raffles at work
  • the Smarties Challenge, to see how many coins they could collect in an old sweetie tube
  • Get Wiggy With It - one of our favourite fundraisers, where staff wear a crazy wig to work for the day in return for a donation!

Other successful fundraisers included a golf day and a Cook Off event, while some daring Opus Motor Group team members took on the Three Peaks Challenge and a 150ft abseil in Newcastle!

Bev Stephenson, PA to the Managing Director, said, “We thoroughly enjoyed our year of fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust and are delighted to have raised so much to help teenagers and young adults with cancer in the North East. Teenage Cancer Trust does an incredible job, supporting not only those youngsters with cancer but their families too, and we feel really proud that the money we have raised will help the charity reach even more of those in need of specialist care."

Teenage Cancer Trust have been brilliant to work with, giving us loads of ideas for really fun ways to raise money and supporting us throughout the year.

Opus Motor Group's fundraising will help us support young people with cancer in the North East, including through our specialist units at The Great North Children's Hospital and The Freeman Hospital. We're also proud to work with other designated hospitals in the North East, including Sunderland Royal Hospital and James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, where young people aged 18 to 24 can choose to be treated closer to home in an environment designed for their age group.

Sonia Graham, North East Regional Fundraiser at Teenage Cancer Trust, said, “We had a fantastic year working with Opus Motor Group and are absolutely delighted by their total raised – almost £15,000 of vital funds to support local young people with cancer in the North East! It’s incredibly valuable to have supporters like Opus Motor Group supporting us because for every young person with cancer that we can support there’s another one we can’t so the money they raise will bring us nearer to our goal of being able to offer our specialist nursing support to every young person."

Thank you so much to all the staff – and their friends and family – who abseiled, dressed up, bought raffle tickets and supported this incredible fundraising effort in any way.
