The Alveston Singers from Thornbury in Bristol were founded in 1977 with the aim of having fun and raising money for 2 charities each year. Concerts are held in the spring or early summer and over Christmas, and this year they have chosen to support Teenage Cancer Trust.

This month Ellena Kyte from Coleford in Gloucestershire had 11.5 inches of her thick dark hair chopped off for Teenage Cancer Trust. She is also donating the hair to a charity who make real hair children’s wigs for children suffering from hair loss, be it from cancer treatment or conditions like alopecia.
