Teenage Cancer Trust and Me

The work that Teenage Cancer Trust do is unique and imperative to young people with cancer who need support tailored to their age range.

I volunteer at Teenage Cancer Trust because of the unprecedented support that they have given me through my cancer treatment in 2013 and ever since in my recovery.

How I Volunteer

I started out by volunteering with bucket collections at events such as The Royal Albert Hall concerts and the Text Santa event, but I wanted to do more on a regular basis so I got in touch with the London head office and started volunteering with the Volunteering and Fundraising teams.

Volunteering at the London head office, I get to do a wide range of diverse and exciting activities such as creating blog posts, liaising with donors and corporations and data research.

What I've Got Back

It's great working with the team here because I get to work closely with a vibrant group who really appreciate your time as well as meeting other office volunteers and working with them.

I've learnt a wide range of transferrable skills working in this environment such as team building, social skills, marketing and administrative skills. The skills I've learnt volunteering in the office at Teenage Cancer Trust are vital to developing myself for a working environment for my future career.
