Yorkshire

Teenage Cancer Trust is developing their services across the whole of Yorkshire, in Leeds, Hull and Sheffield.

There are 2 Teenage Cancer Trust units in Leeds, the first is for 13-18 year olds and the other for ages 18-24. The younger unit is moving to Leeds General Infirmary, this project will cost arround £500,000 and will have :

  • 5 beds
  • Parent’s room
  • Recreation room
  • An outdoor space

In Hull there are plans to open a Shared Care facility working with the NHS Trust at The Castle Hill Hospital, this will cost approx £150,000 and will host:

  • a 3 bed unit all with en suite
  • a day room with music area
  • a recreational area
  • an outside space

Sheffield already has a Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Weston Park Hospital, but we need to expand this by a further 2-3 beds. The next project in Sheffield is The Hallamshire Hospital, where we have plans for a small unit providing haematology beds for young patients across the region.

Notice Board

Ashton Hall Cricket Club

Ashton Hall Cricket Club has just launched a partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust. Whilst the club is dedicated to the development of junior cricket locally, they have chosen Teenage Cancer Trust as their charity to support. In sponsoring Teenage Cancer Trust the club hopes to raise the profile, awareness and much needed funds for Teenagers and young adults with cancer. All funds raised by the club will go towards cancer units in the Sheffield area helping teenagers with cancer.

Leeds Liverpool Canal Cycle Raises Money for New Leeds Unit

Chris Black from Soundleisure is seen here handing over a cheque for £3,284 to Heather Bowen, Regional Campaigns Manager for the new Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Leeds General Infirmary.
The donation was raised by Chris and his friends cycling the entire canal path from Leeds to Liverpool and they have requested it be spent on younger teenagers from the local area who are being treated for cancer at the new unit in Leeds.

Soundleisure juke boxes can be seen in many of our teenage units around the country and add a dazzling resource for our teenagers and young people who are currently undergoing treatment.

With thanks to:

  • Nabarro for arranging the Corporate Rowing Challenge at Ponds Forge Leisure Centre in Sheffield. This was a two day event where teams of 4 competed against each other to see who could row the furthest in 45 minutes. The winners of the event were the Ponds Forge team who rowed 12’243m. Well Done to all involved.
