Beacon data breach: Update for supporters
Information about the Beacon CRM data breach and how you might be affected
- Published:
We have been informed by Beacon, a company whose systems we use to manage some of our supporter data, of a cyber security incident involving unauthorised access to Beacon’s systems, in which some data may have been downloaded.
We realise this will be of great concern and are working with Beacon to understand the situation and its potential impact on our supporters as quickly as possible.
We do not hold any financial (e.g. bank details) or special category personal data (such as health information, sexual orientation or race), in Beacon. However, affected data may include names, email addresses, postal addresses and date of birth. We recommend that our supporters take precaution with any unexpected calls, emails or texts, particularly in terms of clicking links, making payments, or sharing personal information.
We are sorry that this has happened and for the impact it has on our supporters. We are continuing to work with Beacon to determine how many of our supporters may have been affected by this data breach and what steps are being put in place to reduce the risk of this happening again.
We have contacted affected supporters directly via email, however there are a small number of people for whom we do not hold email addresses. If you think this might be you, or have any queries or concerns, please contact [email protected]
