At Teenage Cancer Trust we care about our supporters and the trust you place in us as an organisation. We want to make sure you are protected in your interactions with us and can give and support us in confidence. Here are some of the steps we take to respect your privacy and protect your data, as well as some tips for staying safe online.

How we protect your data

  • We’ll never share or sell your personal information to third parties for the purpose of marketing or fundraising, and we’ll always treat the information you provide us with in line with our privacy policy.
  • We will always work to meet and exceed regulatory standards: being registered with the Fundraising Regulator, using their Code of Fundraising Practice, and fulfilling its Fundraising Promise. We are also registered members of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
  • We will work to fully comply with all relevant laws, including: the Charities Act 2022, the 2018 Data Protection Act, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, and UK GDPR.
  • We will only work with third party providers who meet all our compliance expectations, and if they fall short of the standards, we’ll act quickly.
  • We meet ISO 27001 Cyber Security Standards, are Cyber Essentials Certified, and are in the process of confirming Cyber Essential Plus. We regularly check our systems to ensure we are protecting all of our data. 

Tips for staying safe online

As valued supporters of Teenage Cancer Trust we want to ensure that you can stay safe and secure whilst engaging with us online. With technology changing all the time and the digital landscape ever-increasing, we wanted to make you aware of potential online risks and give you some guidance to help protect yourself. 

Here are our top tips for online safety.

Beware of phishing

When you get emails or messages that ask for personal information, financial information or want you to click on a link in a message, be cautious and check the identity of the sender before taking any action.

Verify websites

Before donating to a charity or making a payment online, double-check that you are on the correct website. Look at the URLS to make sure they are spelt correctly and look genuine. Some scammers may create fake sites to trick users.  

Report suspicious activity

If you come across anything suspicious online related to Teenage Cancer Trust, please report it to us immediately so that we can act as soon as possible. 

Create strong, unique passwords

Create passwords that are unique to each account, and make sure that they are complex so that they would be hard to hack.
