The Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh was opened in July 2013. The catchment area for this unit includes Edinburgh, Fife, the Lothians, Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
Teenage Cancer Trust funds 1 expert staff member at the unit:
- Youth Support Coordinator
We also fund a national Lead Nurse for Scotland and a TYA Multi-disciplinary Team co-ordinator in partnership with the Managed Service Network (MSN) for Children and Young People with Cancer.
They ensure the best possible quality care is given so that the young person is treated as a young person first and cancer patient second.
