The Great North Children's Hospital

Ward 4, the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, is designed especially for 13-18 year olds. It has 10 in-patient beds, including four transitional beds. All bedrooms are equipped with cosy and comfy soft furnishings, bespoke furniture, TV, DVD and gaming facilities. We also provide free Teenage Cancer Trust Wifi and laptops.

Teenage Cancer Trust funds two expert staff on Ward 4:

They make sure each teenager having treatment on our ward gets the best possible quality care and is treated as a young person first, cancer patient second.

We first opened our Ward 4 unit in May 2010 and refurbished it in 2017 to make it more spacious, homely and welcoming.
