My career
I recently finished as CEO of Rentokil Initial, one of the world’s largest business service companies. In my 38 years in business I’m proud to have been involved in some wonderful cultures, working with engaged, energetic people who wanted to do a good job.
I’ve also been involved with some brilliant charities, including Street League who help younger people out of structural unemployment and Malaria No More.
In my experience most challenges, issues or opportunities all come down to people. My priority has always been on engagement, culture and the energy of the organisation. If you get that bit right you can really focus on execution and getting things done.
Making a positive impact
I’m looking forward to meeting as many people at Teenage Cancer Trust as I can, having as many conversations as possible, and understanding what the opportunities are - both the bigger issues we can fix and where there’s potential to do more.
I’ve already been fortunate to meet our Youth Advisory Group, who were inspirational, passionate and energetic and confirmed to me this was a charity I wanted to be part of. I’m also visiting as many of our Units as our can, and it’s been great already to see the practical things we do to help young people.
Above all I’m excited about how we can come together to have a positive impact on young people affected by cancer.
