Andy has been recruited as Chair Designate, meaning that he will become the charity’s next Chair of Trustees when our current Chair Paul Spanswick reaches the end of his tenure in Summer 2027. This follows an extensive recruitment process supported by young people with experience of cancer, staff and Trustees.
Having run one of the world’s largest business services companies, Rentokil Initial, Andy brings exceptional experience in innovation and technology along with insight from the charity sector as the former Vice-Chair of youth employment charity Street League and Patron of Malaria No More. In his time at Rentokil Initial, he took the company into the FTSE 100 while doubling its number of employees and receiving recognition as one of the UK’s best employers.
Chair of Trustees Paul Spanswick said: ‘’We’re delighted to have appointed Andy to the Chair Designate role. With his exceptional track record in business, his prior charity experience and his clear passion for helping young people, we’ve secured an outstanding leader who will be a fantastic advocate for young people dealing with cancer’’.
Andy Ransom said: “It is a great privilege to be appointed to the Board at Teenage Cancer Trust and I’m honoured to be joining such a great team. This is a charity that has done and continues to do amazing things for young people with cancer, driven by the voices and shared experiences of the teenagers and young adults they support.
“I’m looking forward to learning from Paul, our brilliant Chief Executive Jules Worrall and the rest of the team in the months ahead. Most of all I’m keen to play my part alongside colleagues with such a strong commitment to putting young people with cancer at the heart of everything they do.”
