IAM portal: emotional and clinical support tool
You are viewing: Easy to use
IAM portal is a handy self-assessment tool that helps you identify and get the support you need in different areas of your life that might be affected by cancer – from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. It helps put you in control of your care, so that your care team can work with you to develop a personalised plan that supports your needs as an individual.
IAM helps you to identify areas of your life that might be affected by cancer – from diagnosis, through treatment and moving on after cancer.
How does IAM work?
The IAM wheel displays 10 different areas of life, from physical health and emotional wellbeing to education, social life and friends and family. Using a simple scoring system, you can work around the wheel or pick a specific area, identifying where you need support.
Once you’ve used IAM to help you think about your needs, your scores are then shared with your care team so they can help you get the right support.

The IAM website is mobile friendly, so you can access it from your phone wherever and whenever you like. Or you can fill out the assessment in the hospital, with as much or as little guidance from your care team as you feel you need.
To use IAM you’ll need to be registered with the platform. To sign up, ask a member of your care team.
A one stop shop
The IAM online portal also includes a resources section full of information and advice relating to each area of the IAM wheel. Here you can find answers to common questions about cancer, a local and national directory of services that may be able to help you, and a glossary of words and terms relating to cancer and cancer treatment.
Secure and confidential
IAM isn’t just there to provide information to your care team. Like a diary, it’s also your own personal space, a way for you to track your progress and record how you feel from day to day, week to week, through treatment and beyond.
The website is password protected. The only people who see your scores are your care team, so that they can help you get any support you need.
You can complete the IAM as often as you like, up to once a day. Your score might be different depending on where you are in your treatment schedule, or other events happening in your life.
