St James’s University Hospital

Our Teenage Cancer Trust Young Adult Unit at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds is designed for 19-24 year olds. It has nine in-patient beds and a day-care facility. All bedrooms are equipped with comfy and cosy soft furnishings, bespoke furniture, TV, DVD and gaming facilities. We also provide free Teenage Cancer Trust Wifi and laptops.

Teenage Cancer Trust funds one expert staff member at the unit:

Plus, a Lead Nurse and a Clinical Nurse Specialist who both work with patients at Leeds General and St James’ University Hospital in the city.

They make sure each person having treatment on our wards gets the best possible quality care and is treated as a young person first, cancer patient second.

We opened our St James’s unit in October 2008 and refurbished it in January 2014.
