University College Hospital London Cancer Centre
The Teenage Cancer Trust hub at the Macmillan Cancer Centre, University College Hospital London is an outpatient facility for 13-24 year olds. It has eight treatment pods and a further six treatment chairs.
This cancer centre is one the UK’s largest and most advanced outpatient cancer care facilities and can treat up to 60 young people every day.
If you’re an outpatient, this means you’ll go in during the day for treatment and other appointments, but won’t stay in hospital overnight.
On the unit, you’ll be looked after by a friendly, expert team including nurses and youth workers who specialise in supporting teenagers and young adults with cancer.
You’ll also meet plenty of other experts in different areas of cancer treatment, such as doctors, dietitians and physiotherapists. You might hear this being called the multidisciplinary team, or MDT for short.
Support across the wider region
If you live outside London, depending on your age and the treatment you’re having, you might have the choice to be treated closer to home.
Teenage Cancer Trust also supports specialist nurses, youth workers, and specially designed spaces at other hospitals across the region, as part of our outreach service. Your care team will discuss this with you if it might be a suitable option.
Wherever you’re treated, we’re here to make sure you get the best possible care and have all the information and support you need throughout treatment and beyond.

Everything on the unit is designed to help you feel more comfortable and in control, to connect with others your age going through cancer too, and to keep up with friends, studies and everything that’s important in your life as a teenager or young adult.
